On Nov. 7, 2024, a federal district court in Texas struck down the Keeping Families Together Parole in Place (PIP) Program, ruling that the government lacked authority to grant parole under that program. We were expecting this. At this time, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has not made a statement on whether they will continue to accept applications, and the Department of Justice has not announced whether it will appeal this decision. Our office does not expect the program to go any further.
The Keeping Families Together program allowed eligible noncitizen spouses and children of U.S. citizens to apply for parole in place. If approved, they would have been able to apply for lawful permanent residence without having to leave the United States. It would have been an amazing program that would help make the immigration process easier for thousands of families.
This just means we can still help you or your family member immigrate, but it may have to happen at a US embassy or consulate rather than within the United States. Give us a call today to see if we can help.
